What is The Zen Lens?

Each week you receive simple photography prompts that help you look at the world with new eyes. Each assignment can take five minutes or the whole week, it all depends on how deep you’d like to go. This practice is meant to help you develop your unique creative signature by slowing down, looking more deeply, and making something personally meaningful.

  • This is a weekly program. Each Sunday morning, you’ll receive an email that will include:

    • The week’s theme

    • An inspirational quote with a tailored message from me

    • Your weekly assignment. Each assignment can take as little as 5 minutes or as long as the entire week. It fully depends on how much effort you want to put into it

    • A sample image to start things off (either from me or a guest artist)

    • Special curated links to keep you inspired throughout the week

  • Prompts will arrive in your inbox at 2am PST, so they’ll be waiting for you when you begin your day.

  • Yes, everyone receives the same assignment for the week. This allows for a sense of community if you choose to participate in that way.

  • No, there is no obligation to share your work, that is completely up to you. If you do decide to share or want to see what others are doing, you can use #zenlensproject on Instagram or TikTok.

  • No, you absolutely don’t have to, but I encourage you to, especially the assignments where there’s a bit of resistance. Sometimes that’s where the creative breakthroughs happen.

  • Nothing happens. You can choose to save it for later if your schedule doesn’t align.

  • All you need is a camera. Any camera will do.
